The Daily Journal | Suits over business permit fees under shutdowns settled

Orange County agreed to a $1.7 million settlement to settle a class action lawsuits brought by restaurant owners looking to recover fees paid to the state and county during the pandemic. KBK’s Brian Kabateck told the Daily Journal, “If a restaurant went out of business — and unfortunately a large number of restaurants, as a result of COVID, closed and aren’t coming back — those restaurants will receive a refund. “So it’s a very good settlement for Orange County to have done,” he said.
