Over the last decade, Brian Kabateck has played an active role in drafting or shaping more than 25 pieces of legislation, spanning insurance code reform, consumer privacy protection, and disaster recovery policy — including the Policyholder’s Bill of Rights and the Consumer Privacy Act.
During his tenure as President of the Consumer Attorneys of California, he led efforts to tackle major issues such as medical malpractice liability caps and changes to insurance company accountability. During his tenure as President of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, Brian worked to modernize the bar’s outreach and strengthen access-to-justice initiatives for veterans, immigrants, and underserved communities.
As lead counsel for the NAACP’s class action against numerous financial institutions for discriminatory lending practices, Brian was awarded the NAACP’s Champion of Justice award, demonstrating the firm’s commitment to advancing civil rights alongside consumer protection.
