The firm is pleased to announce that founding partner Brian Kabateck and managing partner Shant Karnikian have been named to the Daily Journal‘s Top Plaintiff Lawyers list for 2025.
Brian has been leading plaintiff-side litigation since founding Kabateck LLP in 2002, focusing on class actions, mass torts, and disaster cases. He’s leveraging his experience from the landmark $4.037 billion Maui wildfire settlement to speak out on the L.A. firestorm, and has been particularly critical of Southern California Edison’s out-of-court settlement program for Eaton fire victims.
“It’s the cause, not the case, these days,” Brian said.
Shant joined the firm as a law clerk in 2013 and is now managing partner. In August, he and co-counsel secured a $13 million settlement for a nationwide class of 15,800 mobile phone retail employees who were systematically underpaid for sales commissions. He’s also become an outspoken advocate for the plaintiff bar, recently co-authoring columns with Brian addressing high-volume case mills and protecting the integrity of the civil justice system.
“We have an honorable profession to defend,” Shant said. “What could be better than making a living going after the bad guys on a contingency basis?”
The Daily Journal‘s Top Plaintiff Lawyers list recognizes California attorneys who have demonstrated exceptional achievements in representing plaintiffs across various practice areas.
