Brian Kabateck and Shant Karnikian Named to Daily Journal Top 100 Lawyers

Kabateck LLP is pleased to announce that firm founder Brian S. Kabateck and managing partner Shant A. Karnikian have been named to the Daily Journal Top 100 Lawyers list. This marks Shant’s first recognition on the prestigious list.

Brian has been fighting for consumer rights since founding Kabateck LLP in 2002. He’s currently working on some of the state’s most significant cases, including the $4 billion Maui fires settlement fund and ongoing Edison fires litigation. He also secured $67.8 million for clients in the Porter Ranch gas leak cases. Beyond the courtroom, Brian works with lawmakers in Sacramento to help draft consumer protection laws like the Consumer Privacy Act.

“I’m at the point where I don’t really need to make money anymore,” Brian said. “I just need to make a difference.”

Shant started as a law clerk here in 2013 and became managing partner last year. He’s made his mark with some notable victories, including a $13 million settlement this past July for thousands of wireless retail workers and a $3.5 million settlement for nearly 11,000 remote language interpreters. Back in 2017, he helped secure a $57 million verdict for 31 families living in a mobile home park that had fallen into dangerous disrepair.

“These workers’ rights cases are important to pursue,” Shant said.

The Daily Journal Top 100 recognizes California’s most impactful attorneys based on their legal achievements and contributions to the legal community.
