Matthew P. French

Matthew P. French is an Associate Attorney at Kabateck LLP, where he specializes in wildfire litigation and victim advocacy.
Matthew has extensive experience representing wildfire victims, having successfully advocated for hundreds of clients throughout his career. His compassionate and strategic approach to complex litigation is driven by a deep commitment to securing justice for those affected by devastating fires. Clients value his empathetic counsel and dedicated advocacy during their most challenging times.
Matthew previously served as an associate attorney at a prominent Los Angeles area law firm, where he built a substantial practice representing wildfire victims while also handling complex trucking accident and civil rights litigation. His comprehensive litigation experience spans all phases of civil practice, from pre-litigation strategy through trial preparation, including mass tort management, expert witness coordination, complex discovery management, and successful settlement negotiations that have resulted in multi-million-dollar recoveries. During law school, he gained valuable experience externing for a Federal District Court magistrate judge and an assistant city attorney.
Before entering the legal profession, Matthew spent eight years as a science and health educator and administrator with the Los Angeles Unified School District—experience that honed his advocacy skills and deepened his commitment to serving others in times of need.
When Matthew is not advocating for his clients, he enjoys traveling (having visited 25 countries), scuba diving, and cooking.
