KBK has obtained settlements for sex abuse victims who sued the Monson-Sultana Joint Union School District for assault, battery, negligent hiring and supervision, negligent training and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The improper touching included, groping, fondling genitals, oral copulation and sodomy. Convicted pedophile David Blancas preyed on these young boys while working as a 6th grade teacher and an athletic coach. The Monson-Sultana Joint Union Elementary School District and the Tulare County Board of Education failed to properly supervise and train its facility and staff as mandatory reporters to report suspected or actual occurrences of child abuse, as required by the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act.
Our firm also settled a lawsuit with the Reedley Little League on behalf of a Fresno man who reported sexual misconduct by his coach back in 1991. The plaintiff known as “J.B.” told police about the inappropriate behavior of David Blancas, 20 years prior to his criminal conviction for sex abuse.
