Insurance Bad Faith / Disaster Litigation
Kabateck Kellner filed the first -- and the most -- Northridge Earthquake cases. We are currently prosecuting cases on behalf of Florida hurricane victims whose insurance companies are failing to pay their damage claims.
Kabateck Kellner LLP's expertise in insurance bad faith cases has helped our clients recover from major insurance companies like Farmers, Mercury and Travelers. In one case, we recovered $2.6 million for a client whose insurance company denied a $1,000 claim. In another case, we helped a client recover $7.8 million after Farmers denied a claim as below his $7,000 deductible.
Our attorneys have drafted disaster insurance laws that have helped thousands of victims recover millions of dollars. Managing Partner Brian Kabateck, a nationally-recognized expert in disaster and insurance law, has worked with the California Legislature and California Department of Insurance to draft several laws including the Policyholder's Bill of Rights.
In addition, we have argued significant appellate decisions including E.M.M.I. Inc. v. Zurich American Insurance Company, 32 Cal.4th 465 (2004) and Cordova v. 21st Century Insurance Company (2005) 129 Cal.App.4th 89 that provided greater access to our courts for victims of insurance bad faith.
